The Relationship Between the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan and the Jordanian Politicial System

This study aimed to clarify the relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan and the Jordanian political system (Crown Institution) between 1946 and 1997. The relationship was limited for many reasons, the most important being the nature of the Crown Institutions relationship with Islamic movements in general, and the Muslim Brotherhood in particular.Of importance was also the need for dialogue between the two sides, and the moderation and wisdom of the Crown Institution. Moreover, the religious background of the Crown Institution promoted harmony and balance between the two sides. The Jordanian Brotherhood was distinguished from other political groups both inside and outside Jordan in that, despite some limited tensions, it was based on coexistence. The historical method was used to follow the relationship between the two sides. Besides, the analytical method was used to distinguish the Islamic Brotherhood in Jordan from other movements.
