The Differences in Self-Learning Disposition, Test Anxiety, and Level of Ambition between High and Low Achiever Students in First Grade of High School

The study investigates the differences in self-learning disposition and deals with test ancxiety as an emotional variable that points to frustration associated with testing, and that has a negative effect on performance, as well as level of ambition as an indicator for high and low performance level. The sample of the study (N=298) includes first grade of high school male students in Abha and khamis-Mushait, Saudi Arabia. The statistical analysis of the results has shown the following; there is a significant effect of disposition of self-learning on high-achievers, a significant effect of anxiety on low-achievers, and a significant effect of ambition on high achievers. The findings of the study have been analyzed in terms of the theoretical framework, and the results of previous studies, including a number of suggestions and recommendations.
