The Effects of Parents - Child Relationship on Juvenile Delinquency:

This Study examines the effects of mother/father relationship and the family atmosphere on Juvenile delinquency. The study was conducted on all juveniles in Social Care Institutions in the Ministry of Social Affairs in the state of Kuwait in 1998/1999. The sample number was 99 (94 males and 5 females). The questionaire was especially designed to be administrered in this study. The study achieved several results, most important of which is that the relationship between parents (wife - husband) has a great effect on juveniles. Parents who live together have a positive effect on juvenile delinquency, meaning that juveniles are less likely to be delinquent. The age and work status of the father affect delinquency, i.e., older and non - working fathers have negative effects, while age and working status of mothers have no effect.
