A Social Accounting Matrix, for the State of Kuwait

Auther : Azzam Hamad al-Mo’men

The availability of consistent and comprehensive socio-economic data is vital for the drawing of any strategic national plan. The classification of data in a certain form or model may help build and construct mathematical models which can lead the researcher to certain conclusions with greater exactitude. Computable general equilibrium models (CGE) are among the most flexible which help to estimate many future economic and social scenarios, especially when a time frame is not available as is the case in most Arab Gulf countries. This paper is an attempt to construct a Social Accentuating Matrix (SAM) for the State of Kuwait for 1995, and to estimate a macro variety for 1999. We hope that this will attract more Arab researcher to be attracted to the technique of CGE models. In order to encourage further fellow Arab researcher we introduced them to the macro SAM, which helps in understanding the SAM, and the CGE models. This, indeed, is an invitation to Arab researchers to publish researchs and results regarding SAM’s and CGE models.
