Spatial Variation of the Southern

Auther : Jehad KERBE

Climate spatial variation dominates the vast continental lands of KSA. Accordingly, many weather types are generated. These weather types lead to the rise of temperature all over climatic stations, particularly during the prevalence of the southern winds. It is possible to sense these weather types as continental weathers the year round. Nevertheless, these weather types could on the other hand be sensed as characteristic weathers during winter-as they mainly relate to drops in rates of relative humidity in the reion.

The aim of this research paper is to examine the spatial changes of the main climatic characteristics of various southern winds blowing over major climatic stations in KSA. Moreover, the research answers questions raised on whether the weather types are similar to each other or not. The analysis of variations of weather types using daily climatic data from 28 stations for the period 1981 - 1998 lead to convincing and acceptable results.

Key words: Daily data relative frequencies, Prevailing wind, Climatics characteristics, Thermic deviation, Hygrometric deviation, Spatial variability, Weather types.
