Psychological Stress and Body Image Satisfaction in Relation to Alopecia Areata

The study aimed to clarify the role of both of Psychological stress and body image satisfaction in relation to Alopecia Areata (AA) by using Path Analysis. In order to verify the hypotheses of study, a battery of questionnaires including the demographic questionnaire, Psychological stress scale, and body image satisfaction scale have been used. After fulfilling the psychometric requirements of the battery, the data were collected from two samples: (1) (n=50) patients with AA (36 male, 14 female), there ages ranged from 25-53 years, with a mean of 42.12 (SD=8.23). (2) (n=60) healthy people without AA (44 male, 16 female), there ages ranged from 26-55 years, with a mean of 41.78 (SD=7.89). The findings of the study were as follows: (1) The AA was the most effect on increasing psychological stress and decreasing body image satisfaction. (2) Their were significant differences between male and female patients with AA in: psychological stress and body image satisfaction.
