Political Status of Bedouins and Minorities in Jordanian Governments

Auther : Khalid I. AlEdwan Khaled M. AlDabbas

This study aims at exploring the political status of the Bedouins and minorities in the successive Jordanian Governments, according to two procedural indicators: numerical and qualitative. It also examines their status in the legislation of a political nature.
To achieve the objectives of the study, the analytical approach and statistical approach were used. The study reached many conclusions with respect to the level of representation at the government, where the successive Jordanian governments took into account when being formed assigning ministerial positions to the tribes of Bedouin origin on constant basis. Also, the Christians and Circassians/ Chechens have nearly constant presence in the Governmental formation; in some cases, the number of these positions exceeds the population ratio for Christians.
The results also showed that the political status of the Bedouins and Christians in the successive governments is not only limited to permanent presence but also extends to the higher ranking of the ministerial positions assigned to them.
