Auther : Mohammad Mahafza-Amal Al-Awawdah

This study aims to identify the violation of the legal rights of Jordanian working women, and other work place abuses. The study population comprised women working at government and private institutions. Data was collected using a questionnaire distributed to a target sample of 450 women. The results showed that 35.4% of the respondents faced violations of their legal rights; 62.4% for lack of nursery services at or close to their workplace; 38.9% for lack of health insurance; 34% for lack of social security and 30% for being deprived of nursing hours. Threatening to use punishment was also found to be one of the most known practices against working women where 50.4% were found to have been exposed to it. 34% were subjected to threats of salary cuts and 32% of withholding bonuses or rewards.
