An Empirical Study on Students Career Aspiration

Auther : Mariam Al-Kendary

Students career aspiration is the concern of this research. A classified sample of 463 university male and female students from all of the colleges of Kuwait University has been involved in this work. A questionnaire pertaining to students career and job preferences has been used as a main source for collecting responses. Results show that the private sector has been chosen as a more plausible and desired area for future careers, a fact which can be harnessed to serve economic development programs and relate educational output to local labor market. The data also show gender differences regarding vocational jobs with male students more inclined toward the latter than female students. The study also revealed a gender variable amongst students reflected in the presence of an established , culture-bound difference in their own concept of the civic and economic role they are expected to play.
