Social Solidarity in Kuwait During the Iraqi Invasion

Auther : Mohamad A.J. AL-Mutawa

The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and its aftermath resulting in the Second Gulf War presents various issues on the local, regional, and international levels. The influence of this invasion and the consequent occupation as well as the social and human upheaval must be looked at from a comprehensive point of view within a framework of methodological analysis to consider the resulting consequences in the near and far future as well.

Discussing this subject from a social perspective will contribute to a methodological analysis and a comprehensive view of what happened in the social environment during the invasion and after the liberation within a framework of future anticipations.

This paper studies the phenomenon of social solidarity in Kuwait during the invasion. The paper will also discuss the way the rebuilding of Kuwait can be supported and how the new social system functions which society and state look forward to having. It is also the purpose of this paper to show the influence of the social civil structure in fighting back in every way with emphasis on the mechanics of the local social oneness reflected in communal consciousness during the invasion, which preserved society and state intact through an interaction between the government and the people inside and outside Kuwait.
