Leadership Styles in the Organizational Change of Algerian Enterprises

This paper investigates the relationship between leadership styles (according to Fiedler’s theory) and organizational change in Algerian enterprises. The aim of the analysis is to understand whether the organizational change occurs as a result of the change in the process of leadership, or as a result of organizational reforms within the enterprise at the macro. It is argued that: first, a distinction must be made between leader ship as an organizational structure on the one hand, and leadership as an organizational behavior and process of influence that permits the implementation of organizational change on the other; and secondly the organizational situation is one of the most important factors that managers should take into consideration and should learn to adapt and change managerial behaviors in accordance with the situations and conditions of work. These empirical results may help managers to set appropriate leadership styles for various organizational structures and improve organizational relationships and effectiveness.
