Auther : Abdel-Moneim S. Mahmoud

Polarization mean postdisussion positions to an reflecting the adoption of attitudes that are more extreme, but in the same direction as than prediscussion position. The previous studies attributed this effect to the following:-

-         - Social comparison processes-persuasive argumentation.

-         - Thought and cognitive schemes .

-         -  Social identification.

This study utilizes five experimental groups and one control in the aim og replicating that phenomena in the Egyptian society. The paper presents an empirical support to one of its explanatory mechanisms.

Meta-analysis revealed that attitude polarization occurred after group discussion; regardless of the gender of participants, their ages, and number of group discussion.

The content analysis presents considerable support for a model of persuasive argumentation.
