AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

Auther : Mohammed Hamed

In this paper we discussed the relationship between the Environmental Problems and Economic Development especially in the LDCs. The most important problems are the deterioration of the natural fauna, soil, water, urban, industrial and agricultural pollution and the global commons.

Those problems may either be environmental deterioration, pollution or imbalance. The results of economic development in the LDCs witness all of those types of environmental problems which led to death by famine or poisoning in some cases.

The avoid much of those environmental problems without jeopardizing economic development it is suggested in this paper to use cost-benefit analysis because that accounts for societal casts and benefits including environmental damages. However, it is hard to quantify the financial damage of environmental problems, but that does not invalidate  the use of this model to prioritize economic development projects according to the environmental impacts of cash.
