Working Mothers and Social Behavior of Primary School Children in

Auther : Mahmoud A. Munsi

Mothers have a great influence on the social behavior of their children and the development of their social life. Saudi Arabian women have recently taken up occupations in schools, hospitals and administration to share in the development of their country. Some studies claim that women should stay at home as mothers and home makers, whereas other studies suggest that women should work outside the home. This particular research investigates the differences in social behavior between children of working and non-working mothers. A sample of 400 primary school pupils were selected from schools at AL-Madinah   AL-Munawwarah. Data was collected using a socio-cultural status survey form, a social behavior checklist, and an intelligence test involving drawing a man. The data was analyzed  and showed that there were no significant differences in social behavior between both boys and girls of working or non-working mothers.

There were also no significant differences in social behavior between boys and girls in all groups of the study.
