Factors in Life Expectancy

Auther : Ahmad Kamhawey Abaza

Death is the end result of a chain of events and may occupy  a short space of time, as in sudden death in a road accident, or may be prolonged over a number of years or even decades, as in some degenerative conditions. For these reasons, modern studies of mortality and the aging process now involve professionals from a wide rang of disciplines: actuaries, applied mathematicians, bacteriologists, environmental scientists, life-assurance medical directors, medical researchers, statisticians, demographers and others.

This paper outlines some of the major factors affecting mortality and the length of life, and describes areas of current  research which may lead to a greater understanding of mortality and the aging process. Comparisons are made between some international mortality rates and ones in Kuwait.
