A Critical Reading of Neo-Classical Economics

Auther : Egbal AL- Rahmani

Some of the major historical developments in the methodology of science and philosophy since the seventeenth century are reviewed. The author moves from the static and segmented Newtonian approach. To the dynamic and integrated one. While these developments have been adopted and applied in major scientific fields, the most dominant school in economics, the neo-classical, continues to adopt static and segmented perspective. In addition to critically reviewing the main principles and assumptions of the neo-classical school, this paper points to some alternative theoretical orientations within   the field Economics which adopt an integrated dynamic and broader approach, such as the institutionalist, environmentalist, and complex systems approaches.
