Determinants of world Demand for Gasoline

Auther : Abbas A. AL-Mejern

Transported is the fastest growing sector for energy demand, and has been virtually the only growth area for oil demand during the past 20 years. So far, the gasoline engine has dominated road transportation, and in road transportation, and demand for gasoline accounts for nearly 30 percent of the worlds total demand for oil. The relative importance of gasoline is increasing as the demand for its growing in proportion to other oil products. Between 1980 and 1993, gasoline ratio to total oil consumption increased from 24 to 28.5percent, 2 percent growth rate per annum. Hence, over the coming years development in transport in general, and in road transportation, in particular, is believed to be the most significant determinant in oil demand. In light of concerns about oil demand outlook, the present study evaluates and analyses potential development in the transport sector by designating and studying the major factors affecting global demand for gasoline ; world population growth rate , economics , and environmental concerns.
