Productivity Measurement for the construction sector in the state of Kuwait

Auther : Mahdi H. Alsalman

We have used an inter-industrial model to explore the characteristics of the industrial sector , as well as the productivity of seven industries in the construction  sector in Kuwait. The study covers the ten-year period from 1985-1994 according to United Nations ISIC classification. It was found, in brief , that there is a high significance for the input technical factors that were derived from the partial and industrial input – out put tables , in the measurement of net production and the change in productivity in the construction sector in the state of Kuwait during study period. This was observed not only when taking capital and labor factors into account, but also the degree of efficiency and interlink ages with the intermediary requirements in productivity measurement. With this result, productivity in the construction sector for seven sub sectors in the state of Kuwait runs in conformity with the results of Armstrong 1974, Parker 1989, and Nadiri 1970 as regards the coefficient relationship with net production index and total productivity, with difference in the relative importance of technology or technical requirements coefficients on the intermediary inputs in the national economy.
