Psychological Attitudes of Some Age Groups in Kuwait towards Aging:

Auther : Talaat Mansour

Old age, as a significant biological state in the human life cycle, has been studied extensively, particularly in the last decade. However, research findings on this topic seem thus far to be contradictory and even controversial.

The aim of the present study is to explore the psychological attitudes of different age groups in Kuwait (youth, and early, middle and late adulthood) toward aging, identifying the cultural orientation of society as playing a dominant role in the aging process. The research is based on Kuwaiti popular proverbs, as these reflect to a great extent this cultural orientation.

The research concludes that people in Kuwait experience aging in general as a healthy and productive stage of life, as expressed in the positive attitudes of the four age groups towards the aging phenomenon.
