piaget,s Theory of Cognitive Development and the function of the two Hemispheres

Although some agreement  has been reached regarding the function of the two hemisphere of the brain ,  yet disagreement still exists concerning the relation ship between the two . the lift hemisphere  has been associated with logical analytical thoughts; thus convergent  thinking . the right hemisphere has been associated with intuition and syncretism , leading to divergent   thinking . as for the relationship that exists between two hemisphere , some researchers  see it as one of replacement while others see it as one of complementation and integration . educationalists and psychologists have always been accused of being biased to the former type of relationship. This accusation is based on two points . fist , the main  target of education has always been directed toward establishing more logic and less illogical intuition. Second , modern thought has been influenced by the dogma of liner rationality based on the sequential look claiming that what comes first is less developed than what follows . the left hemisphere being the last to nature is – therefore- considered more advanced . Modern research rejects this idea . more studies have emerged on behalf of integration and cyclical interrelation. piaget,s theory of cognitive development has been regarded as a left-hemispheric one the reason was that piaget considers  cognitive development as moving from intuitive thinking to logic mathematical operation . this is a misconception of nature of the two types of thinking .piaget never sees that last disposing of the first . more ever , the two invariants of assimilation and accommodation indicate the idea of open systems connected with divergency associated with the right hemisphere . therefore, piaget,s theory is far from advocating a relationship of disposition ,  but rather one of integration . Educationalists should consider such relationship in curriculum building and its practical fulfillment.
