Treatment of Enuresis by Behavior control: An Experimental Therapeutic Study

Auther : S.Rayhani

There are many reports available that indicate the successful use of behavioral techniques in the treatment of enuresis. With success rates close to 90% in some cases (Spence.1976). The present study, however, is an attempt to treat a group of school age neurotics using a combination of behavioral control procedure. The treatment includes the application of conditioning with a regular alarm clock that was set to go off half in hour before the assumed time of bed wetting for each individual. This conditioning procedure was combined with a food and liquid consumption regime especially in the last two hours going to bed. Psychological counseling of both the child and his family emphasizing the importance of getting ride of the habit of enuresis was also used.
