Field dependence- Independence of Cognitive Styles in Self-Concept and level of aspiration

The field dependence – independence cognitive Styles examined in this study, and their relations to the self-concept, and level of aspiration. The cognitive styles are considered ways of information processing. Whereas the person with a field-dependent style is likely to rely on external referents guides in information processing, the field independent person tends to give greater credit to internal referents. The ways in which these styles express themselves can be illustrated by three of the tests used to asters an individuals standing on the field dependence-independence dimension. These tests are the body-adjustment test, the rod and frame test, and the embedded figures test. This study has used the Arabic copy of the group embedded figures test, which the researcher has participated in developing, also the self-concept test, and level of aspiration questionnaire are used in this study. The population of the study included students, male and female.
