“Political Behavior of the Big Powers” “Within the United Nations”

Auther : Walid S. Abdel Hay

There are three, established, competing paradigms, which embody quite distinct assumptions about who should be regarded as the significant participants in international relations and the nature of the transactions between them. Non of these paradigms (Realism – Marxism –Functionalism) allocates a central place to the U.N.

The aim of this paper is to re-assess:-

A)         The conventional theoretical view that the change brought about by the establishment and operation of the U.N. is just a modification of the existing diplomatic system.

B)         The nature of relations between small states and big powers within U.N.

Conclusion: One may note that Resolutions passed against the wishes of those that have the relevant military capabilities or economic resources may still be implemented.
