Differences in Responsible Behaviors towards the Environment between Secondary School Teachers and Students in the Kingdom of Bahrain

This study aims to identify differences in responsible behaviors towards the environment among secondary school teachers and students through answering a questionnaire which measure the extent of such in four main areas: prevention of solid waste, rationalization of energy consumption, rationalization of water consumption, avoidance of hazardous waste and concern about environmental issues. The study sample consisted of 185 teachers and 382 students. The study results indicated that:

1 - Teachers displayed more environmental behaviors than students.

2 - Arts students displayed environmental behaviors more than those science students.

3 - Male students showed more responsible behaviors towards the environment than females.

4 - The most revealed environmental behaviors were rationalizing water consumption and avoiding the use of hazardous materials, whereas, the least practiced behavior was concern about environmental issues.
