Summery. The term “Type A” refers to a specific kind of behavior pattern characterized by severe competitiveness, desire to achieve, over-arousal, muscle tension, sense of time urgency, anger, hostility, and impatience. The high score of any given in measures of type A behavior makes him more prone to suffer from coronary heart disease. In contrary, the type B behavior pattern has the opposite characteristics of type A.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between a short from of the Jenkins Activity Survey (JAS) as a type A behavior scale, and the personality dimensions of: Psychoticisim (P), Extraversion (E), Neuroticism (N), and lie (L) as they measured by the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). The sample consisted of 56 male and 58 female Egyptian governmental personnel. Sex-related differences were not statistically significant between any of the aforementioned five variables. Nevertheless, the correlation coefficients were significant between JAS and E (+ vw, females), P and L (-ve; males and females), N and L (-ve, females) N and P (+ ve, females), and E and N (- ve, males). Last but not least, the most prominent result of the factor analysis was the extraction of a salient factor in which the JAS and E scales had significant loading.
