The Socio – Economic Impact of Remittances of the Egyptians Working Abroad on the Egyptian Economy in ( 1970 – 1983 )

Auther : Fathy K. Aly

In the latest ten years many Egyptians emigrated to the Arab oil exporting countries. The number of  Egyptian migrant workers increased dramatically since  1973  after the increase in the oil prices. In  1983  the number of Egyptian migrant workers was estimated at between three and four million individuals represented about  10%  of the population. They remit about 5000 million Dollars.

As a result of the migration and remittances there are many economic and social effects on the economy and economic variables.

The research shed the light on some of these effects and evaluate the net effects of the remittances, and direct and indirect effects.
