Simulation Games: Their Use Teaching Social Studies on the Intermediate Level in Kuwait.

Auther : A.Al-Ahmad

Instructors of methods of teaching are agreed upon the fact that there is no ideal method to be employed in all teaching situations on the different levels of learning. Considering this fact the researcher introduces simulation games to Arab educators in general and to those in Kuwait in particular as a new method of teaching social studies. It is hoped that this method will make its way into our schools, as it prevails in general education schools in the United States of America. To cover all the aspects of the subjects in question the researcher gives a theoretical background that includes the importance of this method, its definition and development, the field it deals with, and its benefits .The researcher then gives details on the way of constructing and evaluating any simulation game. To put the theory into practice, the researcher offers a model under the title of “ Pollution in Al-Ahmadi City”. At the end, the researcher offers suggestions that include seven fundamental and necessary steps to be followed by interested teachers or researchers if they would like to construct, translate or Kuwaitis simulation games to use in our schools.
