Rejoice in Criticizing the Prophetic Traditions in Dyeing With Black

By Dr. Hakem Obeisan AL-Meteiri

Teacher in the department of Quran inter predation -

The faculty of Sharia - Kuwait University

This research is a critical study of the Prophetic Hadith prohibiting the usage of black dye for hair, especially the Hadith of Ibn Abas in this subject and its citations. The author has proved in this research that those traditions are weak. At the same time, he proves that attributing the traditions that allow dyeing with any colour without exceptions are far more correct. It is accepted upon by both AL-Bukhari and Muslim in their two right books.

Moreover, the autherhas proved that most of the sayings and opinions of the Prophets companions and their successors ensure the permitting of dyeing. This is the most famous creed; the creed of the majority, the creed of Prophets Family (Ahl-al-Bait) and the creed of the inhabitants of Al-Madinah (Ahl-al-Madinah).

Thus, there is no evidence prevents women in particular from colouring their hair with black dye or any other colour. In contrast, the evidences regarding this subject allow women to dye.
