Islam is the Fitrah (Innate Character) of the Creation and

The Constitution of the Universe.

Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Mutawalli

This paper consists of : An introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion. In the introduction, the writer told about his motives behind writing this paper and summed up the main points contained in it.

In the forst chapter, were mentioned some Qur’anic verses related to the terms Fitrah, Taqdeer (preordainment), and Guidance. The verses related (30:30;7:1-3) – which directly indicated the terms: Fitrah, Creation, Proportion, Taqdeer, and Guidance – were lengthily clarified.

The second chapter clarified that Islam was the essence of Fitrah, and pointed our how al-Qur’an urged mankind to know the laws of Fitrah, how natural sciences assured the existence of the Creator, how sound human nature submits willingly to the commands of Allah, and that there is no one among the religions now existing, except Islam, deserves the title “the Religion of al-Fitrah”.

In the third chapter, the writer touched upon the laws of Fitrah, in the universe, animals, an in mankind, and indicated how they can be discovered, giving some examples. He refused the idea of coincidence assuring that the universe is the creation of Allah. He mentioned some Qur’anic verses related to the creation of mankind, and how they were endowed by special capabilities without which they weigh nothing. He mentioned too about the defense systems installed by Allah in the human body, stressing that no one except Allah can create such organs as hearing, seeing, and sensing.

In the world of animal creation, he mentioned some verses related to Fitrah in bees and fishes as examples. He tried to draw attention to the painful consequences of rebelling against the Fitrah, whether in the level of faith, or in the form of discontent with Alla’s creation. Females’ Masculinity and males’ efficiency are maladies. Whoever commits such sins lives in confusion, instability, and increase in the severity of diseases, as a just punishment by Allah. Thus is the consequence of creatures’ violating of transgressing Allah’s laws. Finally, the writer indicated some Fitrah laws in the realm of plants, and how al-Qur’an drew our attention to them.

The fourth chapter was dedicated to discuss about Islamic Sharia being the laws for mankind from the beginning to the end of this life. All prophets propagated that Shaira, and the Message of prophet Muhammad affirms the previous ones as stated in al-Qur’an. The Sharia of Islam complies with the interests of mankind

Including those matters which were criticized by some people, such as polygamy, divorce, and prohibition of wine, pork and usury. The writer refuted all these accusations and clarified how modern science affirmed the originality and soundness of the legislation of Islam.

The conclusion highlighted that Islam’s approach in argumentation and convincing is unrivaled, because it convinces intellect, satisfies passion, and meets human needs in every time.
