ISLAMIC SHARIA’S POSITION ON THE IRAQI OCCUPATION OF KUWAIT

By: Dr. Ajeel Jasim Al-Nashmy

Islam has prohibited any form of aggression on others, on their property, on their livelihood, and on their self-dignity and honor. So, the Iraqi regime’s aggression on Kuwait is absolutely against all heavenly religions and it is also, against all human principles. This is because it was an aggression against a peaceful Muslim nation which helped the Iraqis in time of need.

Islam testifies that the head of the Iraqi regime is an infedal and the rules and principles of Baath Party in which he believes, are of those who have gone astray. Sadam has been camouflaged himself behind the name of Islam; which he is trying to destroy or distort.

From the Islamic point of view, the officers and soldiers who represented the aggressive Iraqi army are considered invading forces, which deserve to have their hands and legs severed, to be killed, or crucified in this life and hell awaits them in the Hearafter for their crimes.

It is very important to confine the punishment to this evil group which is responsible for the atrocities in Kuwait. In the meantime, both the Kuwaiti and the Iraq people should start to mend their wounds and deal with each other as Muslim brothers who share Islamic traditions. This is especially possible because the Iraqi regime oppresses the Iraqi people and deprives them of their self-security and freedom.
