Verification of Reports and Narrations

Of Divine Message before

Accepting them

By:Dr. lziya Ali Taha

The researcher has traced in this study the extent to which reports and narrations of Divine messages had been verified by Jews, Christians and Muslims before they were accepted.

The researcher concludes by stating that the reports conveyed by the Jews had resulted in distortion of the Torah because:

  • The Jews had not followed closely correct methods of verification

  • The had not been serious or keen to preserve the Torah in its original form in the first centuries of its revelation

  • There was a wide gap of time that separated Musa (pb uh) from what were called the compilers and writers of The Torah of Today. Thus, the Torah of today came to be different from the Torah revealed by Allah to Musa (pbuh) to the effect that the acts of worship, the traditions and the Judegement contained in their Torah should be regarded invalid. A further conlucsion is that Christian priests and monks have played a major and an influential role in distorting the (lnjil) Bible. The modifications and distortions done to the Bible by priests and monks were due to their misconception that: in changing the Bible to suit modern time the Holy Spirit, as they claimed, was supporting them. These modifications done by priests and monks led to the loss of the creed of monotheism and to the deviation of Christians from the night path and to their degeneration in the abysses of doubt, suspicion and idolatory beliefs and practices.

Another conclusion reached by the present researcher is that Muslims have applied accurate and precise methods in learning, preserving and recording the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Prophetic Tradition (al-Hadith) or (Sunnah) (i.e. the Prophet’s statements, practices and what he approved). Thus the Religion of Islam is available today in its original form unchanged, modified or distorted. Its creed, codes of behaviour and morals and its social and economic system remained intact which proves that Islam is the seal of Religions which has been preserved by Allah and guarded against corruption. Hence Allah’s statement:

We have without doubt, sent down the mes-

Sage; And we will assuredly Guard it (from corruption)

(The Qur’an 15:9)
