    1. Freedom from apprehension, anxiety, tension and conflict.
    2. Achievement of a state of balance in one’s self and between one’s physical and mental and spiritual needs.
    3. Adjustment of the individual with himself and the society.
    4. Attainment of happiness by satisfying psychological and social needs.
    5. Attainment of self- actualization by engaging in self-satisfying and socially useful activities.

The writer discusses these definitions as they are viewed by Islam and from the point of view of the Behaviorism, Psychoanalysis and Humanistic schools of psychology. He concludes that mental health is a feeling of satisfaction, security and happiness on the part of the individual who leads an upright moral life which brings him in relationship with Allah, with himself and with other individuals and which helps him in achieving self-actualization to live a useful Islamic life.

The writer has explained the relation between this Islamic definition and the physical, mental, social and spiritual areas of mental health.
