Singing the Qur’an Between permissibility and prohibition

This research is considered a study related to improving, enriching and chanting the voice aiming at the performance artistic level and the related toning and it is aiming at the artistic delivering [performance as well as the related the intonation and exhilaration by finding one of the qualities related to the sounds. Scholars, in the past and present, differed on the issue of reciting the Qur’an with melodies or what is known as singing the Qur’an after they agreed upon improving the voice due to its active effects. This issue involves using melodies for beatifying the Qur’an reciting voice whereas some scholars prohibited it, others who did not prohibit it but considered it unfavourable, while others permitted it in addition to those who were strictly against it. The aim of all of them is to preserve the Qur’an and its performance to the fullest and best level. This is after they agreed that exceeding the limits in chanting, singing or composing when it reaches the exaggeration limit or either increasing or increasing by excessive usage of diacritics or otherwise, then it will be forbidden, prohibited and can not be done with the book of Almighty God. difference is when no letters articulation is disrupted, whereas they This unanimously agreed to forbid it as Al-Nawawi and other scholar confirmed that the scholars unanimously are in favour of improving the qur’an reciting voice unless it exceeds the reciting limit by stretching, therefore when it exceed the limits until a letter is added or deleted , it will be forbidden.
