The Impact of Ancient Paganism on the Origins of Contemporary Christianity (A Critical Analysis) Researcher: MAHMOUD ABDELRAHMAN DADO Instructor in Sharee’a College- Halab University -Syrian Arab Republic- Summary: Christianity was contemporaneous with many pagan religions deployed across the globe which combines in its teachings both myth and fiction. Most of Christianity followers were, in all its stages, pagans converted to Christianity, and these followers tried to put their ideas and beliefs in Christianity as they have various ideas about gods and their multiplicity, nature, attributes and function in universe. Therefore, Christianity could not stay away from these pagan ideas. Pagans succeeded in introducing many of these views into Christianity as part of Christianity belief. Accordingly, any religious scholar can find the profound relevance between Christianity and ancient Paganism in most doctrinal aspects because of increased converts into Christianity whether in fundamentals triangulation, crucifixion and redemption, or in branches such as baptism and holy communion. Scholar tried to explore this effect derived from Christianity and its historical causes.
