Dr. Hassan Salim Moqbel Al-Doosi

Prof. Associate in The Faculty of Shari’ah and Law – University of San’a – Republic of Yaman.

The researcher handles the concept of mind and the role of Islam in maintaining and protecting it from every thing that corrupts it whether it is moral or materialistic. This is not a critical study of a cultural perspective as it has been done in previous studies concerning mind. It is an analytical fundamental study from Maqased ( intentions ) perspective based on the contexts of Islamic Shari’ah. It should be noticed that this study is very important in studying Shari’ah Sciences which leads to show the good method to judge the real situation and promotes it.

This study shows that Islamic Shari’ah keeps mind safe and sound and protects it morally from pessimism, illusions, sorcery and soothsaying. Islam prevented practicing or seeking magic and considered magic one of the fatal sins. It also prevented all kinds of deceit, superstitions, sources and methods that violate human mind with corrupted diverted, crooked beliefs which feed mind with extremist ideas and fanatic beliefs and behaviors. The most dangerous diversion is that of thinking when it leads mind astray whether through extremism or looseness because it has great impact on on behavior.

Islamic Shari ’ah took care of mind and protected it against drugs and alcoholic drinks and all materials that spoil mind. Islam made strict laws that guarantee minds health and safety, like preventing drinking alcohol and taking drugs. It also imposed punitive measures against people who do not adhere to Shari’ah laws.

This study emphasized that Islam far from being an extremist religion encouraging violence. It is the religion of moderation, tolerance and mercy for all people and living
