Using Tuckman Instrument to Evaluate Teaching Styles

This study aims at the evaluation of teaching styles of (40) student teachers by using Tuckman instrument which is known as The Tuckman Teacher Feedback Form (T T FF). This instrument is used to measure teacher style and is of a 28 item semantic differential where adjective pairs (constructs) represent approximate opposites.

Student Teachers judged as creative are seen as: original, creative, uninhibited, iconoclastic, experimenting, imaginative, and adventurous, Dynamistic student teachers are described as (outspoken, aggressive, bubbly, outgoing, dominant, extraverted, and assertive). Organized demeanor is (purposeful organized, resourceful, systematic, in control, conscientious, and observant). Warm and accepting student teachers are (patient, warm, amiable, gentle, fair, sociable and accepting).

The study has also involved observing. The performance of the student teachers in the classroom using Tuckman instrument after validity and reliability has been observed.

Each student teacher was observed for one academic hour and result have shown that the student teacher may approximately be evaluated at average in teaching styles:

The results also show that there are no statistical differences between boys and girls in their teaching styles.
