The effectiveness of visiual feedback in performance training (pre-service) of Mathematics teachers in Jordan

Auther : Fareed K. Abu-Zaina & Mohammad I. Hassan

The purpose of this study was to experiment with the videotape as a teacher-training method. It was assumed by the researchers that this method provides prospective teachers enrolled in mathematics teaching-methods courses with visual feedback that significantly contributes to the development of their classroom performance.

Hence, the study aimed at testing the effectiveness of the forementioned method in developing the teaching experiences and competencies of mathematics student teachers and their attitudes towards Math. teaching. The videotape method was compared with the traditional teacher training method used in the program of Education Department at Yarmouk University.

The results indicated that integrating the two methods: the video-tape method and the traditional one provides student teachers with better opportunities to experiment with the theoretical ideas and principles that the learn from methodology courses. The two methods combined provide for field training (in schools), direct and continuous supervision (in the television lab).
