A test of the Educational workshop Effectiveness on the University Students classification Ability of the instructional objectives and their retention of it

The basic aim of the study was to test the effectiveness of educational workshops, on the university student’s classification ability of the instructional objectives, and their retention of it.

A sample of (85) university student’s was randomly selected and divided into two groups: (1) an experimental group that was taught instructional objectives by using an educational workshop, and (2) a control group that was taught the same topic without using an educational workshop. A classification test of (24) items was developed that three domains of the educational objectives, according to Bloom’s Taxonomy cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains).

To test the hypotheses of the study a “t” test was used at the level of (0.05). The results were as follows:

  1. There was a statistical difference between the experimental group that was taught instructional objectives by using the educational workshop and the control group that was taught the same topic without using the educational workshop, in the classification ability of these objectives according to the levels of each domain, and in the retention of this ability after one week of the experiment in favor of the workshop group.
  2. There was no statistical difference between boys and girls of the control group and those of the experimental group, in both the classification ability and the retention of it.

The study recommends that educational workshop be widely used for training pre-service and in-service teachers on some other skills and competencies related to the instructional environment such as using instructional materials, and asking high-level questions.
