Teaching Skills among Science Teachers as Estimated by them in the Preparatory stage in Al-Kerk Governorate, Jordan

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of teaching skills among preparatory science teachers in Al-Kerk Governorate. The study sample consisted of 150 (75 makes and 75 females) science teacher’s. A questionnaire for measuring teaching skills was adopted and developed and finally it included (30) items arranged into six different fields. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were found.

To test the hypotheses of the study, one-way analysis and t-test were used. The results of the data analysis were as follows:- First: There were significant differences (p>0.05) among science teachers due to the academic qualification in just two stream.

  1. Between the B.S. teachers and teacher training graduates.
  2. Between the B.S. teachers and Al-Tewgehi scientific stream teachers. But there was no significant difference between the teacher-training graduates and Al-Tewgehi scientific-stream teachers.

Second: There was significant difference (p>0.05) among science teachers in their notion about the teaching skills they have due to the teaching experience variable and for the benefit of those who are above five years experience.
