Self-esteem in the light of school achievement, grade level, maternal employment, and some demographic variables among a selected sample of Bahraini students

The purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of some variables, such as gender, geographical distribution, birth order, grade level, and maternal employment on measures of self-esteem. Also, it aimed to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and school achievement, among a sample of Bahraini students.

The sample consisted of (380) students, and was randomly selected from the primary and the intermediate levels of Bahraini schools. Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory for children was used in the study.

The results indicated the followings:

1) There was a significant difference between girls and boys, village and city students, and students of different birth order, on measures of self-esteem.

2) Students in the intermediate level scored significantly higher than those in the primary level, on measures of self-esteem

3) There was a significant relationship between self-esteem and school achievement.
