Assessing the Pervaseness of some Aspects of Giftedness Among a sample of Educators in the Arabian Gulf States

This study aimed at assessing the opinions of a sample of the educators in the Arabian Gulf Region about the most pervasive aspects of giftedness among them. It also tried to verify if the mean scores of the research sample differ among the different groups of that sample according to the research variables (Gender, Education, Experience, and Nationality). Finally. It tried to answer the following questions:

l- What are the most pervasive aspects of giftedness which are popular among the educators in the Arabian Gulf States? Is there any statistical differences between the mean scores of the sample regarding the aspects of giftedness being investigated?

2- Is there any statistical differences between the mean scores of the different groups of the sample according to the research variables (gender, education, experience, and Nationality)?

The sample of the study consisted of (614) educators from Saudi Arabia (215), Kuwait (226), and Bahrain (173). The sample contained(298)males and (316) females. This sample was divided also in groups according to other variables of the study.

The major findings of the study were:

l- The most pervasive aspects of giftedness among the educators were academic achievement,motivation,and general mental ability. However, creativity and leadership were not as popular as the previously mentioned aspects, although the mean scores were not very low if compared with the other aspects mean scores.

2- Differences between the mean scores of gender groups were found in favor of the female group in the concepts of general mental ability and creativity. Other statistical differences were found between the mean scores of nationality groups in the concepts of academic achievement, in favor of Saudi Arabia, general mental ability, creativity, motivation, and leadership in favor of Kuwait. Statistical differences were also found between the groups in favor of those teachers who carry Secondary Diploma of teaching in the concept of academic achievement. Finally, the study concluded that the Kuwaiti definition of giftedness is suitable enough for the time being, since it contains the most pervasive concepts of giftedness according to this study findings.
