The Level of Stress and its Relation to Self-Concept in Deaf Students in the Preparatory Year at King Saud University

The study aims to measure the level of stress in deaf students in the preparatory year at King Saud University and its relationship to self-concept. As it is known, the undergraduate level of education has many academic, social, psychological and behavioral dimensions that could affect deaf individuals due to deaf students' experiences and background, which may impose some types of stress that hearing students do not experience. Therefore, the aim of the study was to measure the level of stress that deaf students might be exposed to at the university level in relation to self-concept. The total number of participants in this study was (8), which represents the whole population of deaf students in the preparatory year at King Saud University. The study used the (Kruskal-Wallis test) to measure the differences between the means of small groups. The study used different instruments to measure level of stress and self-concept after ensuring the validity and reliability. The results indicated that there was a statistically significant relationship between level of stress and one of the dimensions of self-concept: ``The physical one''. The study provides a set of recommendations that contribute to reducing stress as well as increasing Positive self-concept among deaf students.
