The Effectiveness of Using Mind Mapping Strategy on Improving Reading Comprehension Skills of the College of Education at Kuwait University

The study aims at identifying the effectiveness of using the mental map strategy for the reading comprehension of the syllabus of Kuwait University students by comparing it with the traditional method used by some faculty members at Kuwait University during their teaching courses. The semi-experimental method was used in this study by applying the study tools that included the reading comprehension test; pre post treatment on the sample of the study (n=145), divided into two groups (74) students who used the traditional method of teaching, (71) students used the mental map strategy in the second semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The results revealed a high effectiveness of the use of the mental map in improving the creative reading skills of members of the experimental group. There were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group and the mean scores of the students in the control group in the post-treatment reading comprehension test for the experimental group, and that there were no statistically significant differences in the use of the strategy of the mental map and its impact on the reading comprehension of the students of the Faculty of Education at Kuwait University in the Courses Studied to the gender variable.
