Ruralization of Basic Education in Saudi Arabia In the light of International Experiences

The study aims to identify the concept and dimensions of ruralization of education and review some international experiences in the field. It also aims to explore the reality of the primary and middle stages (basic education) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study used quantitative and qualitative analyses. The study also included a choice of a stratified random sample of school teachers in five provinces so that the number of sample members reached (1041), as well as intentional sample. The most prominent findings of the study: 1 -Primary and middle school education content (basic) in the countryside, villages and provinces does not meet the requirements of rural life and is unable to meet the needs of pupils: physical, psychological and different orientation. 2 -The lack of manual work and practical application skills and performing adequate attention in the content of education in the countryside. 3 -Education in villages and rural areas does not compete with its agricultural character, because of the geographic nature of the Kingdom of water scarcity and scarcity of fertile land. 4 -Students in the countryside do not choose extracurricular activities they want. 5 -Extracurricular educational activities do not develop manual labor related to practical experiences for students in the countryside. 6 -Extracurricular activities local have little to do with activities in villages and rural areas. 7 -The actual educational practices do not give specificity to schools in the countryside, even if formal regulations included some specificity for rural areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 8 -The results of the study revealed that one of the main reasons for non-education and rural environment correlation is that most teachers, counselors and administrators extracurricular activities in the countryside are teachers coming from cities. 9 -The lack of significant differences between the clear study sample towards the reality of ruralization of education in the KSA in terms of disciplines and in terms of the rural areas.
