Auther : Rashid A. Al-Sahl & Yousef M. Al-Abdullah

The aim of this study was to investigate the level of differences in optimism and pessimism between university students in Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. The study also investigated the level of differences in optimism and pessimism between girls and boys at the universities in these countries. The sample consists of 675 students; 256 from Kuwait (60 boys and 196 girls), 227 from Qatar (83 boys and 144 girls), and 192 from Bahrain (67 boys and 125 girls). The results show that there are no significant differences between students in optimism in all countries. However, the results indicate that there are significant differences between Kuwaiti and Qatari students on one side and Bahraini students on the other. Bahraini students showed much higher pessimism than Kuwaiti and Qatari students. The results also indicate that there are significant differences between male and female students in optimism and pessimism, male students showed much higher optimism and pessimism than girls.
