The Psychometric Properties of the Kuwait Screening Test for Preschoolers

Auther : Fawzia A. Sadi

The purpose of this study is to determine the psychometric properties and the norms of the Kuwait Screening Test for Preschoolers for the ages 3-6 years. The Kuwait Screening Test for Preschoolers measures three domains: language, cognitive, and motor. Two forms of the tests were developed. The first form intended to screen children from 3-4÷ years with a reliability Alpha. .81 and test-retest estimate of.94; whereas the second form was developed to screen children from 4÷ -6 years with a reliability Alpha.80 and test-retest value of.94. The validity of the test was also estimated: criterion and construct validity, and both showed the suitability of the test. The correlation coefficient of the three domains with the total score for the two ages forms were estimated and ranged between (.68-.81) for (3- 4÷ years) and between (.58-.79) for (4÷ -6 years), and all were significant at.001. Cut off scores of the Kuwait Screening Test for Preschoolers were estimated and three levels of scores for each age period were determined as: normal, referal (not normal), and retest.
