Orginality and fluency among two groups of Kuwaiti and Egyptian University students

The aim of this study is to detect the differences between two groups of Kuwait and Egyptian University students in originality and fluency as measured by menas of Guilford Consequences test.

A new version of the test was established consisting of two parts each part consisted of three items. The time allowed to each part was 6 minutes. Reliability was tested by three ways: test retest, split half and raters consistency methods, coefficients were 0.76, 0.73 and 0.66 correspondingly for originality and 0.92, 0,87 and 0.73 for fluency.

The sample consisted of two groups. The Kuwaiti group which was composed of 85 subjects (46 females and 39 moles) and the Egyptian group was composed of 59 subjects (32 males and 27 females) All subjects were students at the second year in the departments of Psychology, philosophy and sociology in the faculty of Arts in El-Minia and Kuwait Universities. The age ranged from 19 to 23 years.

It was found that Egyptian subjects surpassed Kuwaiti subjects in originality factor, where as the Kuwait surpassed the Egyptians in fluency.
