Auther : Sheikha A. Al-Misnad
This study aims at investigating the relationship between teacher pupil control behavior and the quality of life in the classroom and school. The sample was drawn from 8 secondary schools in Doha City. A total of 705 students, both male and female, participated in the study. Two instruments were used in this study. The first one was Pupil-Control-Behavior-Form (PCB) which is defined as an educator performance in controlling overt behavior as viewed by the students and it is based on the custodial-humanistic continuum. The second instrument was the Quality of school life scale (QLS) which measures the feelings of individuals about their school environment. This scale consists of three subclass viz. (1) Satisfaction with school (2) Commitment to classwork and (3) the reaction to teachers.
The results of the study were as follows:
- There is a significant relationship between teacher pupil control behavior and the quality of school life as perceived by the students. When the students perceive their teacher as humanistic in their control behavior, they viewed their school life positively and vice versa.
- Pupil control behavior emerges as the single best predictor of the quality of school life.
- There is a significant relationship between pupil control behavior and the three subclass of the quality of school life.

- Qatari students perceive their teacher control behavior as custodial and they also view their school negatively than non-Qatari students.
