Role-conflict and its impact on the social work in the scholastic system

The purpose of this study is to determine the difference in some expectations between the school administrators and the teachers on one hand, and the social workers on the hand. It shows that negative effect of the contradiction in these expectations on the school social work.

The study depends on simple observation of social worker groups at their schools and the examination of the social workers records and their inspector’s reports.

The study illustrated the expectations of headmasters and teachers that are mainly limited to individual problems specially those related to learning disorders and their solutions.

It is also shown that these contradictions in expectations burden the social worker with tasks, which are not within his specialties. This negatively affected the professional effort of the school social worker, which should be directed to achieve the remedial, preventive an developmental goals of the social work within the scholastic system.
