The Controversy of Triple Ruling in Kuwait (Al-Sabah, Al-Khalifa, Al-Jalahma): Analytical Reading of Primary Texts

Auther : Dr. Theyab A. Alburaas - Prof. Abdullah M. Alhajeri

Objectives: The current study aims to deal with a core issue in Kuwait history, and still one of its postulates. It is about the political ruling system in Kuwait. The shared triarchy there was established (comprising three families: Al-Sabah, Al Khalifa, and al Jalahma), and has been historically linked to the hypothesis that the first ruling system known in Kuwait came through this triarchy. This controversy was a public postulate and a significant component in the readings that stood against attempts to interpret rule establishment in Kuwait, particularly with the literature of political development they had reflected emphasizing principles of (participation and Al shura).
Method: The study depended on historical, analytical and critical research that included deconstructing the main components of the controversy.
Results: The present study investigated and analyzed various Arabian and Western archive and documents concerning this controversy in order to confirm that a triarchy rule hypothesis in Kuwait is inaccurate as most (original) resources, local and Arabian, had nothing to -truthfully- confirm such ill-based hypothesis.
Conclusion: The importance of this study is that it comes to formulate and complete the text in order to interpret and clarify an important detail in the early history of Kuwait; The Ruling Family and its establishment.
